Mid America High School Hockey League (MAHSHL) is a USA Hockey sanctioned league in the Mid West affiliate (MWAHA)

MAHSHL will follow USA Hockey Rules and Procedures. 

The League Commissioner will be considered the “proper authority” of the MAHSHL.

MAHSHL Bylaw provision to Game Misconducts and Match Penalties.

  1. All game suspension penalties will be served in the division where the infraction occurred. 

  2. A player who participates in both Varsity and Jr. Varsity divisions will be suspended from all USA Hockey games until the player has served the suspension in the division where the infraction occurred.

  1. Any unserved regular-season game suspensions carry over to the year-end tournament and the following MAHSHL regular season.

  2. Any unserved game suspensions by a non-returning player will be served by the team’s coach. The number of games served is subject to review by the Commissioner. 

  3. All major, game misconduct and/or match penalties incurred by a player during league and non-league play will be applied to USA Hockey Progressive Suspensions. 

  4. Coaches accessed a game suspension for 12 penalties in a game are allowed to coach until the next scheduled game in the division in which the infraction occurred, at which time the suspension must be served. 

  5. Coaches serving a game suspension cannot have any contact with the team 30 minutes before and until the game is complete.

  1. When carry-over penalties limit a player’s or coach’s participation in the Varsity and/or Jr. Varsity year-end tournaments, the League Commissioner and Executive Committee will review the circumstances, after which, some participation in the tournaments may, or may not be granted. 

  1. Players who receive a Major and Game Misconduct for USAH rule 615 Fighting, will receive a (2) game suspension (2010)

  2. Players who receive two (2) Game Misconducts in the same season will receive an additional two (2) game suspension.

  3. Any player receiving a third {3rd} game misconduct in the same season the player will be suspended immediately from all MAHSHL activities and will be required to appear before the leagues Rules and Discipline Committee within 30 days of the incident. 

APPEALS 
Appeals should be filed using the following procedure: 

  • The letter of appeal must be sent to the President Guy Gronberg of the MAHSHL Board of Directors (guygronberg@gmail.com) within 7 days of the receipt of the ruling. ​​

  • ​The appeal letter must include a copy of the ruling from the R&D Committee and your statement regarding the basis of the appeal.​

  • ​The Executive Appeals Committee has 14 days to respond and render their decision. ​

The President can appoint a person to make a factual determination if necessary.
The President will send a written response to the Team Representatives, Executive Committee and any other persons deemed necessary
The decision of the MAHSHL Executive Committee may be appealed to the MWAHA Appeals Committee within 14 days.
